For decades, the Mountain View Men’s Golf Association has celebrated excellence, sportsmanship, and tradition through its annual Club Championship. This honor represents not only competitive skill but also dedication to the game and to the Mountain View Golf Course community.
The championship legacy began in 1969 with Rick Brown, setting the standard for generations of golfers to follow. Over the years, several names have become synonymous with excellence at Mountain View. Greg Gust stands out as one of the most accomplished competitors in club history, earning multiple titles across several decades. Mike Kravel, Bill Gumeson, Brandon Hatfield, and Derek Penman also left lasting marks through repeated championship victories, demonstrating consistency and elite performance year after year.
The championship evolved through eras of play, reflecting both the changing game and the enduring spirit of competition. From the early years of the association to the modern era, each champion has contributed to the rich fabric of Mountain View’s golfing tradition.
In recent years, the championship has seen continued excellence, with Derek Penman dominating much of the late 2010s and early 2020s, and Kalin Peterson capturing titles a decade apart, symbolizing both continuity and renewal within the club.
Each champion represents a moment in time, a season of dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship. Together, they form a living history that honors the past, celebrates the present, and inspires future champions of the Mountain View Men’s Golf Association.
